Vernon Dino Lovato, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025, at the age of 71, in Lakewood, Colorado. Born on January 18, 1954, in La Junta, Colorado, Vernon lived a life marked by dedication, warmth, and a profound sense of humor.
Throughout his 30-plus years in the railway industry, Vernon was recognized for his diligence and leadership, having served as a relief supervisor at BNSF Railway and worked with Union Pacific, Amtrak, and Denver Rock Island Railroad. His career was a testament to his work ethic and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Vernon's colleagues and friends remember him as a man who could light up any room with his outgoing nature and mischievous smile.
In 1987, Vernon married the love of his life, Wanda Lovato, with whom he shared a deep and enduring partnership. Together, they built a loving family that Vernon cherished above all else. He is survived by his devoted wife, Wanda, and their children, Casey(Denice Eden)Lovato of Centennial CO., Chris(Jordan)Lovato of Lakewood CO., Michelle Lovato of Pueblo CO., Carol(Mike)Garcia of Pueblo CO., Tiana(Troy)Rael of Thornton CO., Brother Eddie(Veronica)Gutierrez of La Junta CO., and numerous grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Vernon's family was the center of his world, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Caroline Gutierrez, his father, Ladino Lovato, and his sister, Peggy Leyba, his uncle, Domingo Martinez, granddaughter Anniston Lovato and grandson Tyler Eden whose memories he held close to his heart.
Those who knew Vernon will forever remember his great sense of humor and his ability to engage in conversation with anyone he met. His legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
As we say goodbye to Vernon, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man who brought joy and warmth to everyone he encountered. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever cherish the time they spent with him.
