Bub attended to 8th grade in Bristol, then graduated from Granada High School in 1956. There were 5 classmates that went all through school together, including Myrna Hanks.
He said he didn’t notice Myrna until the 7th grade, even though they had been neighbors growing up as well. On January 18, 1958, they were married at her parents’ home in Bristol. The McGees lived in Lamar for a short time then moved to Bristol. Right before Joe was born, they moved Dixie and Kim to their farm in 1962.
Bub enjoyed square dancing with The Wagon Wheels, volunteering with Bub’s Boys 4-H Club, and selling peaches for the church fundraiser. He was a member of the Bristol Methodist Church, Hartman Hay Grinders, Granada Senior Citizens, and the Ponderosa Grazing Association.
Bub is survived by his children, Dixie Drake of Garden City, KS, Kim (Brenda) McGee of Brighton, Colorado, and Joe McGee of Lamar, Colorado; grandchildren: Trey, Amber (Ray), Kayla, Tyler, Nicole (Ty), and Robert (Coli); great grandchildren: Skieger, Camrin, Sophia, Tabor, Dalles, Kaden, Lillee, and Leyton; many other relatives and a host of friends.
