Rocky Ford, CO – The Colorado State University Arkansas Valley Campus welcomes Rocky Ford native Alyssa Hancock as their 2025 summer intern.
Alyssa will be working with both the Otero County CSU Extension Office and Arkansas Valley Research Center on a project titled “History of CSU in the Arkansas Valley”. She will be spending the summer collecting historical artifacts, conducting interviews, and studying the history of Colorado State’s involvement in the agriculture and the community in the Arkansas Valley with the hope of eventually creating a display of these findings to showcase in the Otero County Extension Office. Hancock stated, “I feel grateful to have been selected for this internship because I have a deep appreciation for the Arkansas Valley seeing as I grew up in Rocky Ford and have been surrounded by its agriculture all my life.” Alyssa is currently studying Agricultural Education at Colorado State University.
The CSU Extension internship program pairs Extension experts from around the state with on-campus staff/faculty who work together to give CSU students meaningful, hands-on learning experiences where they contribute to applied research efforts.
