Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James “Jimmy” Day, who departed this life on June 7, 2025, at the age of 74.

Born on May 11, 1951, in Canon City, Colorado, to Alma Florence (Ryder) and William Wells Day. He lived a life rich in quiet strength, enduring love, and a deep devotion to his family and friends. Much of his journey unfolded in La Junta, Colorado, where he attended school and enjoyed playing Tiger football, baseball, and wrestling, graduating with the class of 1970.

Jimmy found joy in life’s simplest moments and was a steadfast presence for many, never missing an opportunity to spend time with family and friends. While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate his life, his humor, warm smile, quiet wisdom, and unwavering support. Though he may no longer be with us in body, the love and legacy he leaves behind will forever be woven into the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his mother, father, and two brothers, Joe Pat and Bill Day, whose memories he held close throughout his life. He was the beloved husband of Cindy (Reynolds), with whom he shared decades of partnership, laughter, and love, and the proud father of his son, Taylor, and cherished daughter, Brooke. He also leaves behind his older brother, Mike Day, with whom he shared a lifelong bond.

A private service will be held at a later date for close family and friends to celebrate his life and honor his memory.
