Heroes Among Us: Deputies Honored for Drug Bust, Lifesaving Crisis Response, and Medal of Valor Acts of Courage

Tonight, we want to take a moment to commend the incredible work of the men and women of our agency. Law enforcement often receives more criticism than praise, but the dedication and sacrifice of this team deserve to be recognized.

Deputy Gregory Conyers: Drug Buster Award

In recognition of exceptional dedication, courage, and professionalism in the relentless pursuit of justice. His outstanding efforts led to the arrest of a major drug offender and the seizure of 270 grams of methamphetamine along with an illegal firearm—removing a significant threat from our community and making our streets safer.

These deputies displayed extraordinary courage and compassion when responding to a crisis involving an armed, intoxicated, and suicidal individual.

With no concern for their own safety, they faced a volatile and dangerous situation head-on. For hours, they negotiated tirelessly—managing the scene with incredible skill and care, ensuring no one else was ever in harm’s way.

Because of their dedication, professionalism, and by the grace of God, a life was saved that night.

Sergeant Aaron Morlan: Medal of Valor

In recognition of extraordinary courage and selfless action in saving the life of a child in distress. Facing down a man with a gun—unarmed and without equipment—he placed himself directly in harm’s way to intervene in a moment of crisis, preventing a tragic loss of life.

His quick thinking, compassion, and fearless resolve exemplify the highest standards of humanity and heroism.

This act of profound bravery is not only a testament to his character but also a reminder that one person’s courage can change the course of another’s life forever.
