Obituary
Rebecca Lorenza Medina-Morales, 79, of El Paso, Texas passed away peacefully with family by her side at University Medical Center in El Paso, Texas at 11:27 pm on October 1, 2025. She was born November 1, 1945 in La Junta, Colorado to Miguel & Mary (Griego) Medina.
Rebecca was a daughter, a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother, a sister, an auntie, a niece, a cousin, a compadre, and a friend of many. She was a strong willed and determined woman, full of love, spunk, and a little orneriness. She grabbed life by the horns, lived life to the fullest, and in her words ("I'm going to do what I'm going to do") did just that. Rebecca was a warrior. She battled dementia and underlying health conditions for over 13 years. Through it all she never lost her smile, her love, or her antics. Rebecca was deeply loved by many and will be forever missed. It is an honor to know her and a blessing that she is forever part of our lives.
Thank you for the care, compassion, and coordination of Peacock-Larsen Funeral Services La Junta CO, Patriot Rehabilitation and Wellness Center El Paso TX, and University Medical Center El Paso TX for making Rebecca's transition from this world to the next a peaceful and honored one. Rest in peace our dear "Becca Alice".
Rebecca is survived by her sons, George Encinas; and Jerry Nick Encinas; 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews; siblings, Eleanor (Ed) Vela of La Junta, CO; Margaret I. Ramirez of Thorton, CO; and Juan P. Medina of Denver, CO. She is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Mary “Dolly” Garcia, Miguel Floyd Medina, Paul Richard "Dickie" Medina, and Miguel A. Medina, Jr.
Graveside Service will be held Friday, October 10, 2025, at Calvary Cemetery in La Junta, CO with Father Joseph Matitu of Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish officiating.
