Double Fatal Crash in Clear Creek County

Secondary crash involving responding law enforcement

(CLEAR CREEK, COLO) - Today, on October 14, 2025, at approximately 2:05 p.m., the Colorado State Patrol responded to two separate crashes that occurred as a result of a pursuit initiated by the Clear Creek County Law Enforcement agency.

First Crash

The first crash involved a suspect, a 29-year-old male, driving a Chrysler Town and Country that was fleeing from the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office and the Idaho Springs Police Department. After Clear Creek successfully deployed stop sticks, the Chrysler continued eastbound on Highway 6 on deflated tires and lost control. The Chrysler then entered the westbound lane and collided head-on with a Lexus RX350. The driver of the Lexus was airlifted to a local area hospital and was later pronounced dead. The Jefferson County Coroner will release the identity of the driver once the next of kin has been notified.

The driver of the Chrysler was pronounced dead on scene. The 27-year-old female passenger in the Chrysler was transported by ground ambulance to a local area hospital with minor injuries.

Second Crash

When responding to the call for assistance by Clear Creek County for the pursuit, three Jefferson County Sheriff’s officers responded. A Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Motor Unit was leading with a patrol vehicle and a second motor unit following. While responding westbound on Highway 6, the lead Motor Unit struck a raised metal construction plate in a construction area. The motor went airborne, causing the other two responding units to crash as they attempted to avoid the lead motor unit. The officer on the second motor unit struck a concrete barrier and was transported to a local area hospital with minor injuries. There are no pending charges in connection with this crash.

All information regarding the pursuit will be released by the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office.

The Colorado State Patrol and the Colorado State Patrol Vehicular Crime Unit are investigating both crashes.
