It is with great pride that Otero College congratulates the Men's Soccer Team for qualifying for the 2025 National Tournament, which will be held November 16-22 at Daytona State College in Daytona Florida. Seeding for the tournament will be announced on November 11th.
The Otero College Men's Soccer team has been playing since August 1st under the leadership of coach Alberto "Beto" Garcia. A former Rattler Soccer player himself, Garcia' experience in the soccer world well extends beyond the collegiate game. He previously worked with Sacramento Republic FC, where he served as a player and volunteer coach. During his time there, Garcia helped organize local ID camps, coordinated community events, and assisted with Academy operations; all of which helped to enrich his understanding of the professional development pathway.
Throughout Garcia's coaching career, he has accumulated an impressive list of accomplishments:
- 2019 NJCAA Region 9 Runner-Up (Otero College / Player)
- 2X NCAA Division II RMAC Champion (CSU Pueblo / Assistant Coach)
- 2X NCAA Division II Super Region 4 Champion (CSU Pueblo / Assistant Coach)
- NCAA Division II National Finalist (CSU Pueblo / Assistant Coach)
- 2023 NJCAA Region 9 Regular Season Champion
- 2024 NJCAA Region 9 Runner-Up
- 2025 NJCAA Region 9 Regular Season Champion
- 2025 NJCAA Region 9 Tournament Champion
- 2025 Northwest District West Plains Champion
In 2025, Garcia made history by becoming the youngest head coach in the country to lead a team to the NJCAA National Tournament, and the youngest in junior college history with a Region, District, and Regular Season Championship in the same year. Since taking over the program, Garcia has guided Otero to an overall record of 31-8-9 and an outstanding conference record of 22-2-6, firmly establishing the Rattlers as one of the premier programs in Region 9 and across the Nation. Garcia is currently a contender for the NJCAA Region 9 Coach of the Year recognition.
