Southeast Colorado Antique Vehicle Club Newsletter - Nov. 2025

Minutes of the November 4 meeting

President Wayne Potter called the meeting to order and led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance. Rethabel Huff opened the meeting praying for the club and for people whose lives have been affected by the loss of the Snap program. Thirty-four members were present and recognized as new members – Monty and Jawnya Moyers and daughter Mason. Wayne thanked Bill and Carol Allen for the sendoff of donuts and coffee before the Sugar City Harvest Festival Car Show. The participation from our club was outstanding and certainly made the car show great.

Leonard thanked Jimmie for the help setting up the tables and chairs for the meeting. Jimmie has also been painting in the museum prior to the arrival of Leonard’s donated car.

Karen gave options for the Christmas party dinner in December at the Otero Museum at 6:00 p.m. Three meats are on the menu. If you have not already notified Karen of your choice, please call her before November 21. Her phone number is 719-469-3323. Choices are Brisket $18; Pulled Pork $16; and Prime Rib $28. Price includes a salad, roll and 2 sides. Members will furnish desserts. If you care to bring a dessert, please tell Karen of your intention. The club approved paying $35 a couple toward your meal that night. There will be a gift exchange. To participate you must bring a gift to get a gift. This year will be different though.

When you pick a gift, there will be no trading. You get what you get and “you don’t throw a fit.” Ha!

Wayne invites everyone to the Car nuts and Donuts discussion on Saturday,

November 8th at 9:00 a.m. at Daylite Donuts in La Junta.

Suggestions were made for next year’s excursions. Many good ideas were presented.

Officers for 2026 were selected. They are Wayne Potter, president; Greg Holt, vice president; treasurer, Carol Allen; secretary, Judy Walgren. New director to fill Alvin Grim’s position is James Huff.

Members were reminded of La Junta’s Parade of Lights on Saturday December 6.

Wayne asked if there were any projects that members could help each other with. If you need help contact Wayne at 303-907-5117.

Gary had car manuals for ’71 fords to give away.

A thanks was extended for all the food brought by members. Everyone got their fill.

Next meeting is on December 2 at the Otero Museum at 6:00 p.m.

Meeting Adjourned.
