Mike Jurney and Vincent Mizer Headline CHSCA’s 62nd Hall of Fame Class
The Colorado High School Coaches Association is excited to announce the sixty-second Hall of Fame Class.
The class includes: Joe Johnson, Mike Jurney, Vincent Mizer, Ron Rossi, and Robert Wood
The group includes two basketball coaches, one volleyball coach, one wrestling coach, and one football coach.
The induction banquet to recognize this group will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026 at The DCSD Legacy Campus, 10035 S. Peoria St., Parker 80134. Tickets for the event can be purchased at www.colohsca.org.
Mike Jurney, is the name synonymous with the very successful High School Wrestling program at Rocky Ford High School. Jurney has led the Meloneer’s program for the past 35 years. In that time period Rocky Ford teams has finished in the top-ten at the state tournament 25 times winning two team-championships and three runners-up.
The Meloneers have had 34 individuals win state championships under Jurney’s tutelage. Five times Jurney has been named the CHSCA wrestling coach of the year and in 2005 he was a finalist for the NHSACA coach of the year.
He was a coach for the CHSCA All State Games in wrestling in 2007 and 2022. In 2015 the Colorado Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame named Jurney the 2A/3A coach of the year. Jurney is a 1985 graduate of Moffat County High School and earned a degree from Adams State University in 1992.
Vincent (Vin) Mizer, the 1969 graduate of Kim High School completed BA and Master’s degrees from Adams State University in 1973 and 1981. After short stints of coaching volleyball at Kim and Plainview, Mizer made his mark at Fowler High School where his teams had one of the all-time most dominant runs from 1980 – 2003.
During this 24-year stint Fowler qualified for the state tournament 20 times. Nine times they won the championship and another five they were runners-up. Eight seasons his teams had undefeated records and at one time they won 130 consecutive games.
Ten times Mizer was named the 1A or 2A coach-of-the-year and was also named the 1997 NHSACA coach-of-the-year. Multiple times Vin was a coach in the CHSCA All State Games. In 2008 he was awarded the CHSCA Volleyball Coaches Pioneer Award.
