Springfield PD Seeks Public Help in Overnight Targeted Vehicle Vandalism Case
The Springfield Police Department is investigating two seemingly related vehicle vandalism incidents that occurred during the late-night hours of 02/03/2026 into the early morning of 02/04/2026.
The vandalism was reported at two separate locations on opposite sides of Springfield. One incident occurred in the 500 block of Kansas Street, and the second occurred in the 200 block of Pine Street. Both vehicles sustained similar damage, and investigators believe the incidents are connected and were likely committed by the same individual.
At this time, investigators do not believe the damage was random. Based on the circumstances and available information, it appears the vehicles were likely intentionally targeted.
With assistance from community members, officers have reviewed security camera footage from the areas surrounding both incidents. That footage indicates the suspect likely approached and fled the locations on foot. Investigators also have reason to believe the suspect may be associated with a dark-colored sedan observed in both areas around the time of the vandalism.
Investigators believe the incidents occurred around midnight.
The Springfield Police Department is asking anyone who may have information related to these incidents, including security camera footage from the affected areas during the overnight hours, to contact the department at (719) 523-4511.
This investigation remains ongoing.
