(Mesa County, COLO) - This morning, March 26, 2026, at approximately 6:20 a.m., the Colorado State Patrol responded to a vehicle fire involving a semi hauling a trailer on eastbound I-70 at milepost 9 (west of Loma).
Initially, it was reported that one of the tires caught on fire, it then spread, fully engulfing the trailer and cab. There were no reports of injuries to the driver, a 35-year-old male. The semi contained dried cherries and candy.
At approximately 6:30 a.m., eastbound I-70 was closed due to the fire. At approximately 9:18 a.m., the left lane on I-70 was opened.
