Officer Involved Shooting - Suspect Deceased
Pueblo, CO – On May 14, 2026, at approximately 12:18 a.m., Pueblo Police Department received multiple reports of a fight with weapons at Drew Dix Park located on Massari Rd.
The individuals involved left the area prior to officer arrival; however, police were able to obtain a description of the suspect vehicle, identified as a van. Officers subsequently located the suspect van with three occupants in the 0-100 block of Carousel Lane.
During the encounter, one of the passengers brandished a handgun and in response, a police officer discharged their weapon. Medical assistance was rendered to the suspect, who was then transported to a local hospital where they were pronounced deceased.
The 10th Judicial District CIRT (Critical Incident Response Team), has been activated and will conduct the investigation. Involved officers in the incident have been placed on administrative leave per department policy, one dispatcher was also placed on leave for this incident.
The Pueblo County Coroner will identify the deceased suspect after appropriate notifications have been made. No additional information will be released at this time by the Pueblo Police Department.
