Firefighters continued reinforcing containment lines and patrolling around structures along the Hwy 550 corridor and north-northeast to the Cow Creek drainage through the night. Although containment increased yesterday, so did the size of the fire.
Temperatures are still well above normal with a potential for some precipitation. Relative humidity will be a little higher, but fuel moistures are still very dry, so the potential for moderate to extreme fire behavior remains.
Firefighters will continue reinforcing containment lines and patrol along the south above Bridalveil, along the Hwy 550 corridor, and up to the division break near Cow Creek. Structure protection remains a priority around Silver Jack Reservoir, High Mesa, Bear Claw, and nearby homes and ranches. Firefighters are preparing structures, improving defensible space, and reinforcing containment lines to help keep the fire away from values at risk. Crews continue preparation on firelines near these areas in readiness for strategic firing operations to slow the progress of the fire.
Firefighters continue to utilize natural features and heavy equipment to construct line along the west side of Cimarron Ridge. This line is essential to protect values at risk along the Forest boundary.
