Obituary

A Memorial Service for Kevin Morlan will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at Las Animas First Church of the Nazarene in Las Animas, Colorado at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Carlton McKay officiating.

With deep love we announce the passing of Kevin Tate Morlan a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who went to be with the lord a savior on July 15, 2026. Kevin was born on August 28, 1961 to Norma and Leroy Morlan in Las Animas, Colorado.

Kevin was the co-owner of L&R Body Shop alongside his brother, Randy for the past 40 years. He was known for his passion for roping and rodeo. He taught his family, most importantly, the value of love with a giving heart. That was his most honorable trait. Kevin will be remembered for his selfless acts of kindness, hilarious jokes, long rides out in the country with his kids and grandkids picking corn stalks and sunflowers off the side of the road, scaring the children of the La Llorona, always trying to give away his belongings to family, weekend dinners, but most of all Kevin will always be remembered for the unconditional love to all of us.

Kevin is survived by his wife of 46 years, Janet Morlan; children; Chasity Burns, Laura Morlan, and Jessie Morlan; siblings; Rick Morlan, Scott Morlan (Tina), Brenda Miller, and Randy (Cindy) Morlan; grandchildren; Gavin (Sam) Burns, Justin Morlan, Jada (Flo) Bachicha, Cailey Burns, Kayden and Riley Montoya, Bentley and Paisley Archuleta, and Axton Martinez; great grandchildren; Kyler and Ryker Burns, Alaiya Bachicha, Ariella Burns, Kayson Morlan, Brielle Bachicha; many nephews, nieces, and cousins; and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Norma Morlan; paternal grandparents, Ernest and Anna Morlan; maternal grandparents, Norman and Joe Deason; and his brother-in-law, William Miller.

Memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation in care of Valley Funeral & Cremation, P.O. Box 431, Las Animas, Colorado 81054. His family will carry his memory forward through the lessons, stories, and the love he gave so generously. Ride high Cowboy, until we see you again.

Valley Funeral and Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
