Obituary

William “Bill” Donald Martz, born on May 19, 1947, in Southern California, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, in Fowler, CO, with his beloved wife, Marie, by his side.

Bill was the second of six children (Kenny, Patti, Pam, Dennis & Debbie) born to Kenneth and Alice (Kerr) Martz. Growing up in the warmth of Southern California, he enjoyed a lively childhood surrounded by family and friends. He attended Brea Olinda High School in Brea, CA, graduating in 1965. During his time there, Bill excelled in sports and was part of the CIFAA Football Championship-winning team. He continued his education at Mesa College in San Diego and Cal State Fullerton. After college, Bill joined the Vista program, volunteering with the Blackfoot tribe in Montana. His career began in sales within the mining industry, where he worked for companies like RT Vanderbilt and ECC International. His work took him across the globe, including South America, and he lived in cities such as Chicago, Houston, and Omaha. While in Chicago, Bill married Sally Stalnaker. Together they had three sons: Matt, Jason, and Chris. The family later moved to Omaha, NE, where his boys were raised and he proudly watched them all graduate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

In Omaha, Bill met Marie Kasal, who became his partner and later his wife in 2021, shortly after moving to Fowler, CO. They shared a deep love and cherished their time together exploring Colorado’s mountains. Bill embraced life as a grandfather and enjoyed golf, fishing trips with lifelong friends, and discovering new hobbies like attending rodeos to cheer on his step-grandchildren, all while working as a MedRide Driver.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister Deborah Rogers.

Bill is survived by his wife Marie; sons Matt, Jason, and Chris (Tara) Martz; stepchildren Lisa (Jess) Eichelberger and Shawn (LaQue) Kasal; grandchildren Harrison, Harper, and Max Martz; and step-grandchildren Dallie and Edie Mae Uratani, Brothers Kenneth (Barb) Martz and Dennis (Cindy) Martz, Sisters Patti (Mike) Marcus and Pamela Osorio.

A devoted runner throughout his life, Bill often said running was the perfect way to explore new places and meet new people. His life mirrored a race—filled with challenges but marked by perseverance and faith. He crossed life’s finish line victorious, with Jesus in his heart. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
