Obituary

David “Woody” Wood, 51 of La Junta, Colorado passed away surrounded by love in Colorado Springs, Colorado on May 19th, 2025. Franklin David “Woody” Wood Jr. was born on December 4th, 1973, a brisk Tuesday in the small community of La Junta, Colorado, this soon to be legend was born to his father Franklin David Wood Sr. and his mother Judi Darlene Wood (Munson).

He was the youngest of four children, and the only boy ta-boot. He was a spitfire in the small town, running around with his many friends, and cousins giving his parents grey hairs early on. David played many sports, including baseball, football and wrestling. David graduated with the class of 1993 in La Junta.

He had his first daughter Cassandra in ‘93 and a second to follow, Brylee in ‘99. Woody had many jobs, and was a hard worker, just like his own father. He had a passion for cement work as well as work in the oil field. Woody made many many friends that he’d later call family out in the patch. Woody would spend his off-time riding and working on motorcycles, as well as spending time and making memories with his many friends and family.

Woody was welcomed home with open arms by his parents Frank and Judi, as well as many others. He is survived by his daughters Cassandra Wenzel (Bergren) and Brylee Wood. His two wild heathens he had as grandboys Clinton Wenzel and Jayce Conley. His three sisters, Tracey Wood-Daniels and husband Shaun as well as Kimberly and Shawna. Woody is also remembered and celebrated by his many family and friends. He was loved tremendously and will be greatly missed by many.

I hope there’s a life after life - and maybe I can even come back again and get on another train, and ride and gain some more wisdom. - George Jung
