Obituary

Judy Ann Naimy, 77 years old of Mendenhall, Mississippi, died in Canon City, Colorado on June 21, 2025. She was born in Mendenhall, Mississippi in 1948 to James Thomas and Virginia Irene (Bowser) Barnes. Judy grew up with 3 sisters and 1 brother.

Judy loved the outdoors and could make pretty much anything grow. She enjoyed getting to know her neighbors and spending time with her great-grandchildren. Her second home was easily being near the mountains and having somewhere to go fishing. She was the caregiver in the family and she passed this trait down to many of her grandkids. She loved fiercely and forgave easily.

Judy is survived by her sister Cheryl Barnes Miller and brother Charles Barnes, her two children and their spouses, Paula Case married to Kenny Case and Joel Woodward married to Karisa Woodward, her five grandchildren, Alicia Lopez, James Mondragon, Destiny Schuckert, Elise Woodward, and Chandler Woodward, and several great-grandchildren. Judy is preceded in death by her husband, Eddy R. Naimy, her two sisters, Janie and Mary, and her mother and father, Irene and James.

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free.

I’m following the path God has laid, you see.

I took His hand when I heard His call.

I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day.

To laugh, to love, to work or play.

Tasks left undone must stay that way,

I found the peace at the close of day.

If my parting has left a void,

Then fill it with remembered joys.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,

Yes, these things I too will miss.

Graveside services will be Friday, June 27, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. at Ft. Lyon National Cemetery with Rev. John Dell of the First Christian Church of Rocky Ford officiating.
