CBI and La Junta Police Department Investigate Deadly Shooting in La Junta

August 8, 2025 – CBI – La Junta, CO – The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is assisting the La Junta Police Department (LJPD) with an investigation into a deadly shooting that occurred yesterday.

At approximately 12:04 p.m. on Thursday August, 7, 2025, La Junta Police received a call of a shooting in the 500 block of Bradish Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located one male victim at the scene with life-threatening injuries, who later died from his gunshot wounds. Two other victims were located and are currently being treated for their injuries. Their conditions are unknown at this time. 

The investigation is active and ongoing but there is no danger to the community. The La Junta Police Department has requested assistance from the CBI due to the nature of the incident.

Authorities are not releasing the identities of the victims at this time, nor are they providing any further details about the circumstances of the shooting.
