Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Rita Lucero Sandoval Hinostroza. Age 92 of Ordway who peacefully went home to be with the Lord on August 8, 2025. Rita was born in Ticolotito, New Mexico to Juan P and Rosa (Baca) Lucero. She was the fourth child of eight. Rita was a devoted wife of 53 years to Juan Hinostroza, a woman who served as the pastor wife for 20 years, a proud mother who dedicated her life to Jesus, she happily raised her 10 children being committed to her family whether seated around her kitchen table, reading or studying her Bible working around the yard fixing fences or on the roof she always found time to help others in need. Her story is full of love, compassion, joy, kindness, and with no regrets.

Rita will be missed and will be remembered for her faith and passion for the Lord, leaving us with the example of putting God first in all that we do.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents; 6 brothers; 2 sisters; loved Daughter Connie Lucero; loved sons Isadore J Sandoval and Johnny L Villalovos; loving Granddaughter’s Tamberina J Sandoval, Stephanie Sandoval and Isabel Quezada; grandson Daniel Sandoval. She is survived by her loving husband, Juan Hinostroza of Ordway; sons Jose M (Julie) Sandoval of Crowley, Marvin D Sandoval of Ordway, Johnnie S Sandoval of Ordway; daughters Margaret (Frank) Melgosa of Rocky Ford, Rose (Mario) Marquez of Santa Teresa, New Mexico, Diana Harrison of Ordway, Juanita (Everett) Donelson of Ordway; her 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held. Bellwood Ustick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
