Leon Davis - Bent's Fort Chapter

The Educator Award honors outstanding teaching about the SFT in elementary, secondary or higher education.

Since moving to La Junta, Colorado, Leon Davis has expanded his interests in the history of our region and the Santa Fe Trail. From 1991 to present Leon has portrayed himself as a Living History Character/Teacher at Bent's Old Fort NHS, Boggsville Historic Site, and other sites that portray life on the trail in the 1800's.

He has portrayed various tradesmen and characters such as. a Carpenter, Music Man, and many others. He has taught Frontier Skills and living history techniques to numerous kids and adults of all ages.

Leon has volunteered over 6000+ hours of his time at Bent's Old Fort NHS. Leon Davis has truly earned this award through his volunteer teaching activities.
