Mutual Aid Response Helps Lamar Fire Department Contain 2 a.m. House Fire

At 0238 this morning Lamar Fire was dispatched to the 500 block of Division for a report house on fire.

While responding Engine 7 and Engine 6 were notified that the back of the house was on fire and that Lamar PD reported that flames were showing from the rear of the residence.  Lamar PD also informed responding units that all occupants were out of the residence.

Engine 7 arrived on scene and reported a working structure fire and requested Prowers County Rural Fire to be dispatched for mutual aid.

Upon arriving Engine 7 established command and requested that Engine 6 secure 5” LDH supply line.

Engine 7 deployed both 1.75” cross lays, one to the front door and one to the rear of the residence.

The fire was knocked down from the rear of the residence and a primary search of the residence was completed with no occupants located.  Crews performed salvage and overhaul to the involved area.

No extension was noted and a secondary search was performed with no occupants located.

The crew cleared the scene at approximately 0440 and all equipment was returned to full service.

We would like to thank Prowers County Rural, Lamar PD, Lamar Light and Power, Lamar Water Department, and Atmos Energy for responding.
