Obituary
Celedonio Longoria, lovingly known as “El Gallo De Oro”, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, at the age of 80. He was born on March 3, 1945, in Sain Alto, Zacatecas, Mexico, to the late Rosendo Longoria and Maria Lucas Gaucin. Celedonio was a longtime resident of Ordway, where he worked with dedication and strength for Foxley Cattle Company as a welder. He was a hardworking, humble and kind man with a smile that welcomed all and a spirit that lifted those around him. Celedonio loved the simple joys of life-fishing, gardening, watching sports, and spending time surrounded by his large and loving family here and in Mexico.
He was a jokester at heart, always ready with a smile and a laugh, and a friend to everyone he met. His love for animals was evident in the care he gave to his pets Luna, Niko, and Snoopy, who were always by his side. One of his greatest passions was baseball. As a proud member of his team, Los Aztecas, Celedonio was a force to be reckoned with on the field, known to all as “El Gallo De Oro."
His powerful swings and homeruns made him a legend in his community, but it was his spirit, determination, and love of the game that will be remembered most. Celedonio leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, selflessness, laughter, and love. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to inspire all who knew him. The Longoria family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers during this time. May he rest in eternal peace.
Devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he shared his life of 57 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Rafaela Longoria, building together a legacy of love, family and faith. Together they raised 8 children. He is survived by his children: Maria Luisa Longoria, Francisco (Julie)Longoria, Antonia (Teodoro) Diaz, Sergio Longoria, Margarita (Christopher) Christiansen, Jose (Kathaleen) Longoria. He is also remembered lovingly by his 23 grandchildren who adored their grandpa. He is also survived by his brother Alfredo Longoria. He is preceded in death by his daughters Elizabeth Longoria, Florencia Longoria and 11 siblings.
