The Bent Descendants and the World They Knew
Our first event of the year for our membership meeting is a reading “The Bent Descendants and the World They Knew." This reading was first given at Bent’s Old fort shortly after it opened in 1976, where many of the Bent descendants were in attendance. We are very excited about doing this reading again with the permission of the author.
Gerald Faust is heading up this event along with Alexa Roberts and Larry Bourne. Each one of them will be presenting one third of reading, because it is a bit long. A slide show will be running during the reading that gives more information from the topics in the reading.
The event starts at 11:00 at the Museum in Las Animas, CO. on the 14th of March. We will start off with our membership meeting, with election of Officers, and then chapter reports and then some general news of what’s coming down the trail this year. Our member of the year award for 2025 will be reviled and then we will break for lunch at 11:30. The meal is provided by Steve Bourne at $10 a plate.
The reading “The Bent Descendants and the World They Knew” will start at 1 p.m. After the reading, long time Ranger Moore (now retired from the National Parks System) will be on hand to answer questions about the Bent’s.
