Escaped Controlled Burn Near Highway 101 and County Road DD.5 Quickly Contained by Fire Crews
At approximately 2:41 p.m. March 9, 2026, fire crews responded to a report of a controlled burn that had escaped containment near Highway 101 and County Road DD.5.

Upon arrival, fire crews quickly assessed the situation and initiated an aggressive initial attack to prevent the fire from spreading further. Crews utilized controlled burn operations and suppression tactics to safely slow the fire’s progression and establish containment lines.

Thanks to the rapid response and coordinated efforts of fire personnel and county workers, the fire was quickly contained. Crews remained on scene to monitor the area and ensure all remaining hot spots were fully extinguished.
Residents are reminded to use caution when conducting controlled burns and to monitor weather and wind conditions closely.
